Mayor Domenic J. Sarno was honored to join with President and CEO of Viability, Inc. Colleen Holmes, city and state officials, and the Lighthouse Clubhouse community on Friday morning to celebrate Viability’s Lighthouse Clubhouse 40th Anniversary. The Lighthouse has been a beacon of community and support for mental health community for four decades, operating in the Springfield area since 1985. The Lighthouse provides people living with mental illness with opportunities for friendship, employment, housing, education, and access to medical and psychiatric services in a safe and caring environment.
Mayor Sarno joined with many supporters including Ward 1 City Councilor Maria Perez, Ward 5 City Councilor Lavar Click-Bruce, State Senators Adam Gomez and John Velis, and State Representative Carlos Gonzalez to celebrate with members of the Lighthouse Clubhouse.
The Lighthouse Clubhouse was established in 1985 with the intention of advancing a society in where individuals with disabilities and other disadvantages are allowed access, inclusion, and acceptance. A variety of services are offered to those with mental illness by the Clubhouse. Offering accommodation, education, employment, and job development skills. Today, we extend our congratulations to all involved for their dedication and commitment to Viability Lighthouse Club House over forty years of service to our community.
Mayor Sarno states, “This was a beautiful celebration of Lighthouse’s 40 years of tremendous impact. Congratulations on this significant milestone. Richard – who remembers my dad Alfonso ‘Al the Barber’ Sarno cutting his hair – spoke of how much the Clubhouse means to him and is an excellent representative of what the Lighthouse Clubhouse does to help individuals gain accessibility and harness all their talents. Thank you to Colleen Holmes and team for having us and for your continued belief and investment in our community and the human spirit.”
