Mayor Sarno issues statement on the passing of former longtime Board of Police Commissioners Chairman Edward Keating

The Mayor Domenic J. Sarno issues statement on the passing of former longtime Board of Police Commissioners Chairman Edward Keating.

Mayor Sarno states, “First of all, I am so sorry to hear of my friend Ed Keating’s passing, even at 94 years old, he still had a ‘handshake of iron!’ My sympathy, thoughts, prayers, and encouragement go out to his children: Eddie, Kerry, Matt; his longtime companion Rose Pickett; and very special friend Doris Beauregard-Shecrallah. Commissioner/Chairman Keating is now up in heaven with his beloved wife Peggy and daughter Erin. Commissioner Keating was a proud son of ‘Hungry Hill’ and loyal to the core. He loved our SPD and our brave and dedicated ‘men and women in blue.’ He was a man of integrity and a well-respected community member, always willing to help out a family in need, especially through his days as longtime President of Sullivan, Keating, & Moran Insurance Agency, founded by himself and our late Mayor Billy Sullivan. A proud Korean War Veteran, who served on many boards and received a number of awards too. Rest in peace, my friend, your job has been well done. God Bless.”

P.S. “As I stated before, with that handshake, I would hate to catch a back hand from him, too!”
