Springfield High School Students -- SWSC Pipeline Program Now Accepting Applications for Summer 2025!

The Springfield Water and Sewer Commission is pleased to announce that applications for the Pipeline Program for summer 2025 are now being accepted! Applications will be accepted until March 26, 2025.

The Pipeline Program is a work-based learning paid summer internship program for 12 high school students in Springfield. Pipeline Program participants get hands-on experience, learn about the variety of career pathways in the water sector, complete a water operator training course, and gain job skills while serving their community. Who might be interested in applying to the Pipeline Program

  • Students interested in Science/STEM, Engineering, Environmental Science, Public Health, Chemistry, or Public Service
  • Students looking to explore different career options
  • Students looking for a long-term career that does not require a college degree
  • Students that want to go to college and are interested in learning more about water careers
  • Motivated, hard-working students looking for summer job experience and open to learning new things
  • Students that want to serve their community

Pipeline Program Eligibility
High School students in 10th, 11th, or 12th grade (must be age 16+) are eligible to apply. The Commission is working in collaboration with Springfield Public Schools (SPS) however any eligible high school students that reside in Springfield are welcome and encouraged to apply.

Application Deadline
Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis now through March 26, 2025 at 5PM.

We are also happy to mail copies of the flyer to be posted and shared at your locations – just let us know the number of copies requested and mailing address.
