Mayor Domenic J. Sarno and Communications Director Molly Shea joined Tuesday afternoon with award-winning photographer Don Treeger and family, and The Republican Newspaper team to celebrate Don Treeger’s career and wish him well as his retires.
Mayor Sarno presented Mr. Treeger with a special proclamation declaring today “Don Treeger Day” in the City of Springfield. As Mayor Sarno reminisced on one of his favorite of Don’s award-winning photos, Don presented Mayor Sarno with a framed copy of said photo, titled “Cat Scan.”
Mayor Sarno states, “Don ‘Donny’ Treeger is truly the ‘Last of the Mohicans’ as the last remaining full-time photographer for the paper. Don has captured so many significant moments in our Springfield/Western Mass history and we are lucky to have benefited from his excellent photojournalism. Thank you, Don, for your dedication to telling Springfield’s stories. Congratulations on your retirement, my friend. Good health and God Bless.”
