Mayor Sarno visits with Springfield Garden Club for special Holiday Luncheon

The Springfield Garden Club celebrated December Holidays with Honored Guests on Friday at the historic and recently renovated Monkey House located in Forest Park.

Mayor Domenic J. Sarno, Deputy Park Director Peter Krupczak, retired Park Director and champion for the city’s Horticultural Center project initiative Patrick Sullivan, and members of the Park Department team joined to celebrate with SGC President Janine Boland, members, and guests.

The Garden Club members are showcasing ‘Tablescapes that Celebrate the Season.’ The Monkey House was beautifully decorated and filled with wondrous tablescapes designed to show new ways to decorate for holiday feasts!

For the SGC’s special inaugural ‘Tablescapes that Celebrate the Season’ event, members of the SGC each chose a person - fictional or real, past or present - to invite, then create the perfect holiday table setting just for them, and share the who, the how, and the why of their special table and guest with all of us.

Mayor Sarno states, “Creativity and beauty were in no short supply at the Monkey House today for the Springfield Garden Club’s December Holidays Luncheon event. I was honored to join with SGC President Janine Boland and members today for a beautifully festive event. We recently performed major, transformational renovations at the historic Forest Park Monkey House – but the Springfield Garden Club members took it to a whole new level with their intricate and eye-catching designs. Check them out this weekend at the Monkey House!”
