– FAV'S Closet doors are open to support Families in need of Professional Attire –
Springfield, MA – Mayor Domenic J. Sarno joined with Executive Director of Families Against Violence, Inc. (FAV) Francena Brown for the grand opening of FAV'S Closet on Thursday morning at 1350 Main Street in downtown Springfield. Latino EDC Director Andrew Melendez also attended.
As a key initiative of Families Against Violence, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting families impacted by violence, FAV’s Closet serves as an essential community resource. FAV’s closet is located on the ground floor at 1350 Main Street, or One Financial Plaza. The store provides affordable clothing to individuals and families in need, while also offering clothing vouchers to help those facing unique circumstances. Whether preparing for a job interview, attending a court appearance, or dressing for a wedding or funeral, FAV’s Closet ensures that everyone has access to the appropriate attire for life’s significant moments.
“We are so excited to open FAV’s Closet in the heart of downtown Springfield. Our goal is to create an affordable space where community members can find clothing to meet their everyday and special occasion needs,” said Francena Brown, Executive Director of Families Against Violence. “This initiative is more than just about clothing—it’s about restoring dignity and hope to those navigating difficult situations. At FAV’s Closet, we aim to be a bridge to opportunity and confidence.”
The new location at 1350 Main Street provides a convenient and welcoming environment for individuals and families to shop while fostering a sense of community. FAV’s Closet also reflects the organization’s ongoing commitment to addressing critical needs in Springfield and beyond.
Mayor Sarno states, “I want to thank Francena Brown and her incredible Families Against Violence team for their continued and unyielding efforts in our community. This innovative FAV’s Closet initiative assists those in need on a positive path and makes people feel good. My administration is proud to support Francena and FAV and the Latino EDC with ARPA funds. Throughout the ARPA process, we awarded millions directly to our community, especially to our neighborhood small businesses and nonprofits who directly impact our community. Francena continues to do the work to meet our community’s needs. The space and items look great and I know the FAV team will continue to ensure that folks in need are connected to these resources. Thank you Francena and FAV for continuing to step up to help others.”

She’s been my go-to person in these situations. We’ve been on site during a number of tragic and challenging situations and I cannot thank her enough.
