Mayor Sarno and Forest Park Civic Association enjoy “Hallmark Movie Moment” as first snow falls during annual Forest Park ‘X’ Tree Lighting Ceremony

Mayor Domenic J. Sarno and Director of Parks, Buildings, and Recreation Thomas Ashe joined with the Forest Park Civic Association (FPCA) for the Annual ‘X’ Christmas Tree Lighting on Tuesday evening at the intersection of Belmont/Sumner/Dickinson Streets.  State Representative Carlos Gonzalez, City Councilor Kateri Walsh, FPCA President Beate Bolen, many FP neighbors, and Santa himself joined for the festivities.  Café Christo’s hosted attendees for hot cocoa and treats before the ceremony. Thank you to the FPCA, Forest Park C3 Police, Café Christo, and the Maria Placanica and the Placanica Family for making this event possible.

Mayor Sarno states, “’Tis the season, here in the City of Springfield. It truly looked and felt like something out of a Christmas card or Hallmark holiday movie as the snow began to fall while we made our way from Café Christos to the beautiful tree at the “X.” This annual event is always a great time with our Forest Park neighbors and brings some holiday magic to the neighborhood. Thank you to our PBRM team led by Tom Ashe for this ‘labor of love’ to make our Forest Park neighborhood and city shine. Thank you to Beate Bolen and the FPCA, Café Christos, Maria Placanica, and Santa for a special evening. Wishing good health and Happy Holidays to all!”
