Mayor Sarno joins for EMBR SPFLD Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting Celebration

Mayor Domenic J. Sarno joined this morning for the Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony of EMBR SPFLD, the newest retail cannabis dispensary in Springfield and the only one that has been fully constructed from the ground up.  Embr Springfield is located at 461 Boston Road, a site many remember as Russell’s Restaurant.

Mayor Sarno, Building Commissioner Steve Desilets, Deputy Commissioner Mark Hebert, State Senator Adam Gomez, who chair’s the legislature’s joint committee on Cannabis Policy, State Representative Orlando Ramos, City Councilor Tim Allen, Lisandra Rosario on behalf of State Representative Carlos Gonzalez, Pat and Craig Sweitzer of Sweitzer Construction, Brian Horrigan of Ember/Phat Panda, and Ryan McCollum of RMC Strategies were also in attendance.

Mayor Sarno states, “Congratulations to EMBR SPFLD, on their grand opening. The team has invested more than $2 million into a brand-new building in a long-time vacant lot. For many years this lot sat vacant and neglected – now it has come alive and will also feature green space with a pocket park coming to the property also. This dispensary is the first in the city to be built ground-up and was selected as part of my administration second round of Adult Use Cannabis proposals.  This project has brought more of that good four-letter word, JOBS! This included the construction jobs to transform the site, and now jobs in retail with dozens of new hires from right herein the neighborhood. I want to thank the representatives from Embr/ Phat Panda and their team for their belief and investment in our Springfield.”
