Mayor Domenic J. Sarno joined Police Superintendent Lawrence E. Akers, Deputy Chief Steve Kent, and Captain Jeff Martucci this afternoon to address the officer-involved shooting that occurred in the early hours Thursday morning.
The Hampden District Attorney’s Office and the Springfield Police Department’s Detective Bureau under the direction of Sr. Captain Trent Duda are investigating the shooting.
Mayor Sarno states, “My thoughts, prayers, and sympathy goes out to the family and officers involved in this situation. SPD Detectives and the DA’s office continue to investigate what occurred or did not occur during this tragic incident. I have complete confidence that Superintendent Akers, Sr. Captain Duda, District Attorney Anthony Gulluni, and our brave and dedicated women in blue will conduct a thorough investigation and share more information at the appropriate time.”
