Springfield, MA – Mayor Domenic J. Sarno brought greetings to welcome and congratulate the 176 new United States citizens at the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) Naturalization Ceremony on Thursday, September 19, 2024 at the Springfield Armory National Historic Site. U.S. District Judge, the Honorable Kathrine A. Robertson presided and the Clerk of Court administered the Oath of Allegiance to our new citizens. Kelly Fellner, Superintendent of the Springfield Armory, John Cook, President of Springfield Technical Community College, and Zahi Haddad, Professor of Engineering at Springfield Technical Community College also provided remarks. The new citizens are from 55 different countries from all over the world.
Mayor Sarno states, “As a son of Italian immigrants, I am happy to be with each of these individuals as they officially become citizens of the United States of America. Our country is a melting pot and the traditions brought from our home countries are an important piece of the fabric of our nation. America is still the greatest Nation on Earth. We are the beacon of democracy, strength, hope and opportunity and the envy of the world. God Bless the United States of American and God Bless the City of Springfield.
