Springfield, MA- Mayor Domenic J. Sarno joined with Board of Police Commissioner Norman Roldan, Jose Claudio of New North Citizen Center, Rev. Madaline Martinez of Iglesia Cristiana Hispana, along with family, friends and Parishioners of Rev. Juan Carde for an honorary street naming on Chestnut and Bancroft Streets.
Reverend Juan Carde was proud to call Springfield home since the 1960s and served the Springfield community as a pastor for 52 years. He passed away in 2018.
Mayor Sarno states, “Reverend Juan Carde was a strong leader for the Spanish community. Rev. Carde was the Pastor at Iglesia Cristiana Hispana in the City’s North End for 52 years. It was a beautiful day to honor his legacy of service, his faith, and his commitment to his community with the honorary street naming that took place today. A special shoutout to our brave and dedicated men and women in blue who helped to direct traffic so that we were able to celebrate.”
Also, in attendance and speaking on the behalf of the family was grandson Alex Sierra, State Representative Carlos Gonzalez, State Senator Adam Gomez, City Councilors Jose Delgado, and Maria Perez, School Committee Member Josiah Gonzalez, Herbie Flores and Gumersindo Gomez.
