Mayor Sarno and City and State Officials Meet with Organizers for Ride to Remember

Mayor Domenic J. Sarno, Police Superintendent Larry Akers, Fire Commissioner BJ Calvi, DPW Director Chris Cignoli, Parks Director Tom Ashe, members of the Hartford Police Department, Enfield Police Department, Hampden Cunty Sheriff Nick Cocchi’s office, and representatives from the State Police, American Medical Response, and Ride to Remember Springfield, Massachusetts met today to discuss the logistics and planning for this year’s Ride to Remember event. The 100-mile bicycle tour is in tribute to our fallen police and firefighters. This year the ride will take place on September 7, 2024 kicking off at 8:00 a.m. in downtown Springfield and making its way through Longmeadow, Enfield, Windsor Locks, Hartford, Suffield, Agawam, West Springfield and will end back in Springfield.

Mayor Sarno states, “I want to commend and thank Ride to Remember Director retired SPD Sgt. John Delaney and his team for continuing on with this very important and heartfelt tradition and event to honor those who gave the ultimate sacrifice. My Administration has been a long supporter of this noble cause and we are looking forward to another successful event. This will mark the 12th year of the Ride that started in 2013 to honor the memory of SPD Officer Kevin Ambrose who gave his life protecting a mother and her children during a domestic disturbance. We are proud to honor the memories and legacies of all fallen officers and support all the brave and dedicated men and women who serve.”
