Mayor Sarno Joins for The Children’s Study Home New Brand Launch and Expansion of their Mental Health Services

– The Children Study Home Now ‘Helix Human Services’ –

Mayor Domenic J. Sarno joined today with the Children’s Study Home for a special announcement as they unveiled their new brand and introduced the expansion of their mental health services. The announcement was held at the corporate home of Merriam-Webster on Federal Street here in Springfield. The location is fitting as Rachel Capem Meriam, the founder and first president of The Children’s Study Home, was married to one of Merriam Webster’s co-founders.

Today, the agency’s Executive Director Dr. William A. Davila and Community Relations Director Yamilca Nogue unveiled the new brand name and logo. The Children’ Study Home new name is Helix Human Services. Visit their website at https://helixhumanservices.org/.

Mayor Sarno stated, “While names may change, I know the dedicated work of the individuals at The Children Study Home will continue on. Now called Helix Human Services, our friends at this historic agency continue to uplift our community and invest in the human spirit. We are proud of your rich history and proud to continue to support the amazing work you do for our community.”

Founded in 1865 following the Civil War, the Children’s Study Home was originally called The Springfield Home for Friendless Women and Children. Led by founder and first president Rachel Capem Merriam, the agency was organized and run by a team comprised of mostly women. The 157-year-old agency is among the very first charitable organizations founded in Western Mass and since its founding, has focused on serving people who have experienced trauma in their lives by providing educational, community, and mental health services.
