|   Community News

Mayor Domenic J. Sarno joined with the Spirit of Springfield for a special concert of the President’s Own U.S. Marine Corp. Band at the historic Springfield Symphony Hall on Sunday, October 16, 2022. The free concert was sponsored by Eastman-Indian Orchard and under the direction of Col. Jason K. Fettig and is part of their fall tour of the Northeast.

Mayor Sarno states, “I want to thank Spirit of Springfield President Judy Matt, Eastman, and all of our supporters including MassLive, The Republican, Western Mass News, and WMAS FM for sponsoring and supporting this tremendous event.  It is an honor to host Col. Jason Fettig and the President’s Own US Marine Corp. Band once again in our iconic and historic Symphony Hall.  The music and performance was wonderful and our downtown Springfield was full of activity and events this weekend too!”

Established by an Act of Congress in 1798, the U.S. Marine Band is America’s oldest continuously active professional musical organization. Its mission is to provide music for the president and the commandant of the Marine Corps.
