Mayor Sarno stated, “I want to thank Bay Area Neighborhood Council President Gwendolyn Smith and the residents and business community of our Bay Area for meeting with me and my ARPA team as my Administration continues with our citywide listening tour on how we can get the most out of our local ARPA funding. I also want to thank State Representative Bud Williams and City Councilor Malo Brown for attending this ARPA meeting and hearing the wants, needs and concerns of our Bay Area neighborhood residents and businesses. We had a great discussion and are looking forward to reviewing their ideas and how we can use not only our local city ARPA funding but also lobby our state delegation to access the $5.2 billion the State Legislature is going to be allocating. In addition, I will continue to work with Congressman Richard Neal so that the City of Springfield is ready to tap into the potential federal Infrastructure funding once Congress and President Biden pass this vital and much-needed federal legislation.”
In addition to today’s meetings, Mayor Sarno and city officials have now met with 25 organizations, agencies, non-profits and the following neighborhood councils; Hungry Hill, East Springfield, Maple High Six Corners, McKnight, Old Hill, Upper Hill, Indian Orchard Citizens Council, New North Citizens Council, Sixteen Acres Civic Association, Outer Belt Civic Association, South End Citizens Council and Bay Area Neighborhood Council. Additional neighborhood council and nonprofit meetings are scheduled.
