Mayor Sarno Meets with New Westfield State University President Dr. Linda Thompson

Mayor Domenic J. Sarno, joined by Chief of Staff Tom Ashe met with new Westfield State University President Dr. Linda Thompson today as well as Special Assistant to the President Tim Rooke.  Dr. Thompson was appointed as Westfield State University 21st President by the Board of Trustees earlier this year.  Dr. Thompson has an extensive and a wealth of experience in leadership positions both in and out of a university setting.  She has published over 100 articles, books and other writings and holds BSN and MSN degrees from Wayne State University and her Masters and Doctoral degrees in public health from the Johns Hopkins University.

Mayor Sarno stated, “It was a pleasure to meet with President Dr. Linda Thompson. She was so humble, genuine, and accomplished. As a Westfield State University graduate (B.A. Psychology, 1993), I look forward to continuing to expand our educational, health, and work force development initiatives with President Thompson. She brought to my attention some exciting programs she started in Detroit and Philadelphia during her previous tenures. It was also great to see my friend and former City Council colleague Tim Rooke too.”
