Home Grown Springfield Launches NEW Mobile Meal Distributions - Grab-and-go Summer Meal Service Closed for July 4th Observance

NEW THIS SUMMER! Home Grown Springfield, the culinary and nutrition program of Springfield Public Schools, is pleased to announce a new mobile grab-n-go weekday meal distribution program. The exciting new feature will be located at the following housing locations beginning Tuesday, July 6th:

  • Noon at Bay Neighborhood (437 Bay Street), Duggan Housing (445 Goodwin Street), and Spring Meadows (176 Cannon Circle)
  • 12:45PM at Sullivan Housing (160 Nursery Street), Robinson Gardens (Bay Street & Berkshire Avenue), and Allen Park Apartments (251 Allen Park Apartments)
  • 1 p.m. at Bay Meadows (100 Bay Meadow Road) and Colonial Estates (1 Beacon Circle)
  • 1:30 p.m. at Liberty Hill Townhouse (4 Nursery Street), Reed Village (5 Lionel Benoit Road), and Eastbrook Apartments (259 Fernbank Road)

In other news, Home Grown Springfield will be closed Monday, July 5th, as the district will be closed in observance of the July 4th holiday. Additional meals will be served Wednesday and Friday of this week to provide meals for the long weekend. Breakfasts, lunches, dinners and snacks are provided for any child 18 or under.

Home Grown Springfield provides grab-and-go meal service Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from noon to 3 p.m. for anyone 18 or under at the following schools: Boland Elementary School; Bowles Elementary School; Brookings Elementary School; Chestnut Middle School; Forest Park Middle School; Milton Bradley Elementary School; Rebecca Johnson Elementary School and Talmadge Elementary School. Warner Elementary School will serve grab-n-go on Mondays and Wednesday only, meals are also distributed every Friday at the Eastfield Mall from 10 a.m. -5 p.m. in conjunction with the Oasis Food Pantry.

Any child or teen 18 or under is eligible for the meal program. No ID necessary to receive meals, they do not need to be from Springfield, live in Springfield, or attend Springfield Public Schools. Adults may pick meals up on behalf of the child or teen.
