Mayor Domenic J. Sarno and state and city officials joined with White Lion Brewing President Raymond Berry and his team for a ribbon cutting ceremony for the grand opening of White Lion's new downtown location in Tower Square.

State Senator Adam Gomez, State Representatives Bud Williams, Orlando Ramos and Jacob Oliveira, City Councilors Jesse Lederman and Tracye Whitfield, VP of Development and Client Services for Macmillan Group Walter Kroll, Director of Governor Baker’s Western Massachusetts Office Jose Delgado, Executive Director and Lecturer at Berthiaume Center at UMass Gregory Thomas, Tower Square co-owner Dinesh Patel, and Black Brew Dialogues host Collin Knight were in attendance.

Co-Founder and Chairman of the Boston Beer Company Jim Koch was also on hand.

Mayor Sarno states, “Congratulations to Ray Berry and his team at White Lion for their perseverance, belief, and investment in our City of Springfield.  This has been a long time coming.  The onset of the COVID-19 Coronavirus pandemic delayed this dream for over a year but here we are, ready to ‘Hear the Roar’!  Again, congratulations to Ray Berry and everyone at White Lion.  We are all looking forward to their grand opening and I know this is going to be a great summer with lots of positive energy.  I cannot wait to hear the opening of a White Lion beer can – it’ll be music to my ears.  I’ll take the White Lion Cream Ale to go!”

The White Lion Taproom is scheduled to open Saturday, June 26, 2021.
