Mayor Sarno, Chief of Staff Tom Ashe, Mayoral Aide Lavar Click, City Council President Marcus Williams, and Councilors Malo Brown and Melvin Edwards met with representatives of the Springfield Stone Soul Festival including, Park Commissioner Jay Griffin, retired State Representative Ray Jordan, Community Police Hearing Board member Cee Jackson, and Tracy Chappell to discuss the City of Springfield’s initiatives and plans to assist our beloved Stone Soul Festival both during the COVID-19 Coronavirus pandemic and post-pandemic.
Mayor Sarno stated, “I want to thank and acknowledge the dedication of all the members of our beloved Stone Soul Festival for their unyielding efforts in keeping this Springfield tradition going. Jay Griffin has put his heart and soul into this endeavor and I know I speak on behalf of many of my colleagues in expressing our thanks and appreciation to him and all of the supporters in keeping this festival alive and strong.”
“As we continue to move to defeat this COVID-19 pandemic, we look forward to supporting another Stone Soul Festival,” Mayor Sarno added. “I always enjoy attending and fondly remember and enjoy the time I spent at the festival with my family. My daughters, especially when they were young, enjoyed the rides and activities, and there is no better BBQ, fish fry, and great entertainment too. I am hopeful that my administration working with Council President Marcus Williams, Councilors Malo Brown and Melvin Edwards and their colleagues on the City Council, we can work together in keeping this prominent and renowned festival going stronger and better than ever.”
