City of Springfield Raises Pride Flag for LGBTQ Pride Month

Mayor Domenic J. Sarno joined with City Councilor Attorney Michael A. Fenton to raise the Pride Flag for LGBTQ Pride Month.  Mayor Sarno also issued a proclamation declaring the month of June as LGBTQ Pride Month here in our City of Springfield.

Mayor Sarno stated, “Though we continue to deal with the ongoing COVID-19 Coronavirus pandemic, it is important to try and continue on with a sense of normalcy.  A good person is a good person, no matter what gender, racial make-up, background or sexual orientation. Respecting this right can only make for a better and stronger community.  Although this year’s Pride Flag raising won’t have the usual crowd and we cannot be together in person, I know we are together in spirit.”

Also in attendance were Health Commissioner Helen Caulton-Harris, Chief Diversity Inclusion Officer Attorney Talia Gee, Community Police Hearing Board Commissioner Robert C. Jackson, and Tom Ashe, Jr.
