Mayor Domenic J. Sarno states, “After being notified by current City Clerk Atty. Anthony Wilson of his departure to become the City of Cambridge’s City Clerk, I will nominate Associate City Solicitor and current Attorney to the City Council Tasheena Davis to become the City’s first African-American female City Clerk. Bittersweet in losing Clerk Wilson, but I thank him for all his dedicated efforts and wish he and his young family the best. Tasheena has a strong legal acumen and has done a tremendous job for our City. This would be a natural progression and ensure a smooth transition.”
Atty. Davis said, “I am extremely honored that Mayor Sarno has nominated me as the next City Clerk. Being the first African-American female Clerk in the City’s history is phenomenal and I greatly appreciate the opportunity.”
Outgoing City Clerk Atty. Wilson, who is departing at the end of July, added, “This an exciting opportunity that lies ahead, although I’m sad to leave Springfield where my legal career began in the Law Department. I want to thank Mayor Sarno for giving me this opportunity and nominating me as Springfield’s City Clerk. My family and I look forward to the opportunities ahead and I will always look back with appreciation on my time in Springfield both personally and professionally.
Atty. Davis’s start date will be in mid-August. Her appointment as City Clerk requires confirmation by the City Council.
