Mayor Domenic J. Sarno and Chief Administrative and Financial Officer TJ Plante joined City Councilor Michael Fenton to present a new interactive map displaying City and CDBG funded projects throughout each of the City of Springfield’s neighborhoods done over the past decade. They made the presentation to dozens at the Hungry Hill Senior Center today.
Mayor Sarno states, “Many a times our mega projects get the lion’s share of media coverage that my administration has done in the last 10 years, but just as important have been the numerous City/CDBG projects we have done within all our neighborhoods. From parks, to libraries, small businesses, schools, infrastructure to housing, youth development, neighborhoods and senior centers to public safety aspects, my administration is proud to highlight all that has been done in the last 10 years for all our neighborhoods. Through prudent fiscal management and strategic planning we have accomplished and made tremendous gains in the amount of over $1 billion – an average of $100 million a year. My administration will continue this proactive aggressive agenda for all our neighborhoods as we now will be pursuing federal funding for Opportunity Zones and a hopeful infrastructure development program too.”
CAFO Plante stated, “We are thrilled to release the innovative way to see the capital investments happening all over the City. This allows our residents the ability to get an overview on all the projects, whether it is in a specific neighborhood or the City as a whole. It is a creative way to easily demonstrate all the projects that have occurred in the last 10 years in a simple interactive map.”
City Councilor Fenton said, “This new tool helps to highlight the municipal projects being completed across all of our City’s neighborhoods. The progress we have made has been astonishing, and this interactive map helps to summarize the extent of the work completed. I encourage all residents to explore this new tool. The scope of the work completed is incredible.”
