Springfield, MA – Mayor Domenic J. Sarno and the city’s Economic Development Office joined local business owner Mary Taylor on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at 11:30AM at Champion Childcare Inc. at 71 Suffolk Street in the Upper Hill community to celebrate a new small business loan.

The $15,000 loan awarded to Champion Childcare Inc. will be used for working capital to further grow the business.

Champion Childcare Inc. is the vision of owner and current director Mary E. Taylor. She established Champion Childcare in 1997 as a home based business. In 2011 she moved to 71 Suffolk Street due to her growing business and demand. The daycare currently provides full day care for children two months – eight years of age for approximately 60 children.

The loan is part of the Small Business Loan Program that the City of Springfield offers to small businesses of up to $15,000 in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) eligible areas. The program is funded by the United States Department of Housing & Urban Development, and administered through the city’s Office of Planning & Economic Development department and Community Development departments.
