Eleven Springfield Schools Recognized for Good Attendance

Springfield Public Schools (SPS) held an awards ceremony today at Chestnut South Middle School to recognize the accomplishments of eleven schools for good attendance. The Stay in School Attendance Cup Trophy celebrates schools that have earned the distinction of having either the highest attendance rate or the most improved attendance rate of a marking period.

Mayor Domenic J. Sarno, along with Assistant Superintendent of Schools Lydia Martinez and United Way of Pioneer Valley CEO and President Dora Robinson, attended the ceremony.

The Winter 2016 Attendance Cup Winners are:

Highest Attendance Pre-School: Warner Elementary at 99.9%

Most Improved Pre-School: Milton Bradley up 8.9%

Highest Attendance Elementary K-5: Zanetti Elementary at 97%

Most Improved Attendance Elementary K-5: Gerena Elementary up 3.2%

Highest Attendance Middle: Zanetti Middle at 96.2%

Most Improved Attendance Middle: Chestnut South Middle up 0.6%

Highest Attendance High School: Putnam High at 93.3%

Most Improved Attendance High School: Science and Technology, and Putnam High both up 2.0%

Highest Attendance Alternative: Springfield High School at 82.1%

Most Improved Attendance Alternative: Springfield High School up 24.6%
