November 15, 2013 -Springfield, MA- Mayor Domenic J. Sarno toured Baystate Metal Solutions with owner Tony Fernandez in a follow up visit from two years ago. Mr. Fernandez purchased the then 44 year old business four years ago. He has worked closely with both the City of Springfield as well as state and federal officials to expand his business to its current payroll of over 30 employees, many of whom reside in the City of Springfield.
Touring the facility located at the intersection of Armory Street and Taylor Street; Mayor Sarno was accompanied by Mr. Tom Mathews and Mr. Richard Griffin from the City's Economic Development Office.
Mr. Fernandez also sits on the Putnam High School Sheet Metal Program Advisory Board and works with students by providing internships to students.
