February is Cholangiocarcinoma Awareness Month

Cholangiocarcinoma is a type of cancer that forms in the slender tubes that carry the digestive fluid, bile.

As the world prepares to bring awareness to this aggressive form of cancer, the city of Springfield is proud to join the Jeffrey Speller Foundation '4 Change' with cofounder Ciara Speller, who many of us know for her work as a 22 News anchor, for the City of Springfield’s first-ever Cholangiocarcinoma Awareness event.

The JSF Foundation has generously supported city’s youth while sharing the late Jeffrey Speller’s vision of providing support and resources for youth to participate in golf programs. He was a firm believer that through the game, an individual could gain discipline, self-confidence and resilience.

Please join us in continuing to honor Jeffrey Speller’s legacy, supporting the work of the The Jeffrey Speller Foundation '4 Change,' and bringing awareness to Cholangiocarcinoma on Monday, February 2, 2026 here at City Hall at 10:30 a.m.

During the month of February, we will also be lighting up our Campanile Clock Tower and Springfield’s historic Union Station in Green. Thank you to all the Springfield institutions who will join us in Lighting Up Green during the month of February for Cholangiocarcinoma Awareness.
