Mayor Domenic J. Sarno states first of all, my sympathy, thoughts, prayers, and encouragement go out to the families and friends of Weymouth Police Officer Michael Chesna and Senior Citizen Vera Adams. This was a chilling and senseless crime that is becoming, unfortunately, all too common. Again, this individual should not have been on our streets or in our neighborhoods. Court/Bail systems seems first to put affordable and favorable release conditions forward to violent repeat offenders – what about the ultimate price tag paid by the victims of their families – it just doesn’t make sense. To the state legislators, please act on and pass my Bail Legislation to keep violent repeat offenders off our streets and out of our neighborhoods.
