Riverfront Development Commission

The Riverfront Development Commission is responsible for overseeing development activity along Springfield's 4.5-mile stretch of the Connecticut River. It works with city agencies and others to promote riverfront activities and review all riverfront development plans. It serves as coordinator for all potential projects. A member of the Planning Department staff provides technical assistance.

Groups or individuals seeking to use Riverfront Park for public events must apply to the commission.

Riverfront commissioners are appointed to five-year terms by the mayor. They elect their own chair. The Commission meets on the third Thursday of the month at 6:30 p.m. The room number is posted on the meeting notice in the main lobby of City Hall.
