Union Station Cameras Now Connected to Police Department's Real-Time Crime Analysis Center

This visibility is vital in assuring that our residents and visitors have an additional layer of safety as they travel in and out of the transportation hub.

Monday, August 6, 2018

This morning, Mayor Domenic J. Sarno, Congressman Richard E. Neal and Deputy Chief William Cochrane announced that the Springfield Police Department’s  Real Time Crime Analysis Center (R-TAC) is now connected to 250 cameras at Springfield Union Station. This visibility is vital in assuring that our residents and visitors have an additional layer of safety as they travel in and out of the transportation hub.

Following the announcement, Mayor Sarno, Deputy Chief Cochrane, Deputy Chief Cheryl Clapprood and Chief of Staff Denise Jordan visited the new police kiosk stationed on Main/Morris Street in the South End. The three kiosks are currently being installed at Main/Morris Streets, Main/Taylor Streets, and Riverfront Park. In addition to the new Police Substation on Dwight Street, they will increase and ensure a strong police presence in downtown Springfield ahead of MGM Springfield’s grand opening later this month.
