Project Budget: Costs are $2,092,853 and funded by Chapter 90, CDAG and other city funds.

Description:
Work has been nearly completed on this streetscape improvement project part of the Court Square Urban Renewal Plan which includes enhanced and uniform street lighting, sidewalk repair, curbing, brickwork and street landscaping/street trees, crosswalks, improved pedestrian safety, and resurfacing is designed to provide a safe and positive physical and public safety environment for retail development. This project works in harmony with the State Street Corridor Improvement projectView the Court Square Urban Renewal Amendment #9

Project Status:

The $2.5 million Main Street improvements are nearing completion with new pavement, sidewalks, pressed crosswalks and new lighting from the railroad arch at Lyman Street to Howard Street in the South End. These improvements were necessary from an infrastructure standpoint and have created improved look and feel to the main corridor in downtown, adding more value and appeal to properties. Several Main Street private investments are expected to follow, including multiple new restaurant openings, a new bank opening, and a potential theatre restoration. Main Street improvements will continue to the North End with a state funded project, and to the South End with a city and state funded project.
