Chestnut Junior High School Re-Use

Description:
The project consists of the restoration of the former Chestnut Junior High School built in 1901 & 1907.

  • The structure is historically significant and is listed on the Massachusetts Historical Register.
  • The site consists of a 4 story building – 82,000 square feet (20,500 square feet per floor) and a lot size of 138,916 square feet.


Project Status:

Miramar Real Estate Management, Inc. of San Juan, Puerto Rico has been selected preferred developers for the project. The Chestnut Estate will provide more than 100 dwelling units, all developed on the existing restored structures, preserving its old charm, architecture and character. The project includes parking amenities, and open spaces. The project will consist of multi-family dwelling units divided in two main buildings: the original school structure will be named Chestnut Gallery; and the former theater, basketball court and later addition of the classroom building, will be named Chestnut Courtyard.

The project is anticipated to begin in late fall 2008.
