Former Mason Square Fire Station

Old Hill/McKnight Neighborhoods

Project Location: Old Hill / McKnight Neighborhoods
Property Owners: City of Springfield

Description:
This commercial hub serves four urban neighborhoods along the State Street corridor with ethnic flair. The historic and vacant fire station located in the center of Mason Square is owned by the City of Springfield. The property is part of a developer solicitation that recently completed and proposals are being reviewed. That solicitation includes Indian Motocycle A & B buildings.

The Fire Station building has been vacant for nearly 20 years despite numerous attempts by the City to redevelop it. The property sits in the center of the State Street Improvement area. The reconstruction effort is wrapping up in 2010 and  includes road reconstruction, improved lighting and streetscape amenities.

Project Status:

Mayor Domenic J. Sarno announced the preferred developer designation of American International College for the redevelopment of Indian Motocycle A, Indian Motocycle B, and Mason Square Fire Station properties.
