This community building was closed to the public due to water damage caused by poor drainage around the building.  With Community Development Block Grant funds, the following improvements were made: re-grading the front of the building to allow for handicap accessibility into the building, a new catch basin installation with new rain gutters tied into the drainage system, existing doorways widened to comply with ADA guidelines for accessibility, including replacing doors throughout.  Additional work involved a complete gutting of the interior of the building and new interior finishes, handicap accessible restroom facilities, small office, and a new open activity room. 

This project reopened the field house and created a new space in the Indian Orchard neighborhood, in which the Elder Affairs Department will offer activities and programming to the Senior Citizens community.
