The Pioneer Valley Area Health Education Center (AHEC) is a program of the Springfield Department of Health and Human Services, and is part of the MassAHEC Network [link to: www.umassmed.edu/ahec], a statewide system of six regional centers, hosted by UMass Medical School [link to: www.umassmed.edu]. Our common mission is to reduce health disparities by enhancing the skills and increasing the diversity of the health care workforce and facilitating access to culturally and linguistically responsive health care services by recruiting, developing, supporting and advocating for a diverse workforce from our own community.
AHEC’s program components include:
- REACH (Recruitment and Educational Assistance for Careers in Health) - REACH exposes middle and high school students to careers in health, dental and human services as well as public health issues affecting their communities.
