Mayor Sarno welcomed 135 new American citizens, who span 47 countries of origin, during a naturalization ceremony today at the Springfield Armory National Historic Site on the campus of Springfield Technical Community College. The group took the Oath of Allegiance together and received their Certificate of Naturalization to complete the process of becoming a citizen of the United States of America. The Honorable Judge Mark G. Mastroianni presided over the ceremony and Professor Zahi Hadad spoke on behalf of STCC President Dr. John Cook. Speakers included Springfield Armory Superintendent James Woolsey and City Councilor Melvin Edwards.
