Springfield Police Officers Receive MPA Medal of Valor Award

Friday, October 28, 2016

On Thursday, October 27th, Mayor Domenic J. Sarno and Police Commissioner John Barbieri attended and addressed the Massachusetts Police Association (MPA) Convention right here in downtown Springfield at the Sheraton Monarch Place Hotel. Keynote speaker was Milwaukee, WI Sheriff David Clarke.

Mayor Sarno and Commissioner Barbieri were proud to be with Sergeant Matt Benoit and Officer James Williams as they were awarded the MPA Medal of Valor. The MPA described this award as being awarded to a police officer who demonstrates actions above and beyond the call of duty, disregarding the potential for danger to him or herself.

Also honored was Sergeant John Delaney for his continued and dedicated tireless efforts on the annual “Ride to Remember,” which honors fallen officers lost in the line of duty.
