Mayor Domenic J. Sarno visited Farmer’s Market at Forest Park at its summer location in the Cyr Arena parking lot inside Forest Park. The Farmer’s Market is in its 19th year of operation and is committed to promoting healthful eating and sustainable agriculture by providing fresh products and produce from area farms to the Springfield community.
Mayor Sarno stated, “Glad that we’ve been able to facilitate the Farmer’s Market in our idyllic Forest Park. Belle-Rita Novak and Parks Director Pat Sullivan have been very dedicated to the success of this ‘urban oasis.’ My wife and daughters patronize all the time. Not only has this offered great and fresh quality products and produce to our Springfield residents, but also to many from our surrounding suburban areas too.”
The summer market is held in the Cyr Arena location from May through October every Tuesday between the hours of 12:30 to 6:00 p.m. During the winter season, the market is held inside the former monkey house in Forest Park on November 14th and 21st, and December 12th and 19th. Thereafter, it is held on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month through April.
