Mayor Domenic J. Sarno Announces Demolition of 116 Walnut Street

When: Thursday, August 6 2015 at 10:30 a.m.

Where: 116 Walnut Street, Springfield, MA 01109

July 5, 2015 -Springfield, MA- Mayor Domenic J. Sarno and City of Springfield Housing Officials will be announcing the demolition of 116 Walnut Street.  

The demolition of this building is a priority of our residents and is another part of the concentrated efforts to eliminate blight in our neighborhoods and further our recovery from the June 1, 2011 tornado,” stated Mayor Domenic J. Sarno.

116 Walnut Street is a privately owned, court ordered, demolition and is near the on-going redevelopment in disaster impacted neighborhoods.    

Asbestos abatement and demolition will be completed by Associated Building Wreckers., of Springfield, MA.

The total cost of asbestos abatement and demolition is $47,050.  Environmental oversight of the projects is being performed by Cardno/ATC of West Springfield, Massachusetts.    

Demolition and cleanup will be occurring on-site at 10:30 a.m.
