Springfield to hold its 30th annual Arbor Day Celebration

April 29, 2015 –Springfield, MA- The City of Springfield will be holding its 30th annual Arbor Day Celebration on Friday May 1, 2015 at 10:30 AM at Homer Street School.  The school is located at 43 Homer St. Springfield, MA 01109. The Arbor Day Foundation just recently recognized the City of Springfield as a Tree City USA for the 29th consecutive year for its commitment in effective urban forest management.

This event which includes a ceremonial tree planting and free tree seedling giveaway to students aims to increase awareness of trees in the city and is one of many celebrations in communities across the country.

Mayor Domenic J. Sarno and officials from the Springfield Department of Parks Buildings and Recreation Management will join students of the 5th grade class to plant a purple fountain beech tree in front of the school. Please join us to celebrate the trees of Springfield and have a happy Arbor Day!
