Background                                                                                                     

Mayor Domenic J. Sarno and City of Springfield Housing Officials will be announcing the demolition of three long blighted homes. 

The demolition of these buildings are a priority of our residents and is another part of the concentrated efforts to eliminate blight in our neighborhoods,” stated Mayor Domenic J. Sarno.

17 Adams Street and 19 Pine Street are City owned, tax foreclosed, properties that have been eyesores for several years. These properties are being demolished with Community Development Block Grant – Disaster Recovery funds.

Asbestos abatement and demolition for 17 Adams Street and 19 Pine Street will be completed by Associated Building Wreckers of Springfield. Environmental oversight of the projects is being performed by Cardno/ATC of West Springfield.   The total cost of asbestos abatement and demolition for each site is as follows:

17 Adams Street:        $33,400.00                                                                                                      

19 Pine Street Court:  $26,900.00
