CITY OF SPRINGFIELD LAW DEPARTMENT TO ISSUE DEMAND TO CEASE AND DESIST TO THE AMBROSIA LOUNGE
September 12, 2014 -Springfield, MA- The City of Springfield Law Department (City) has issued a Demand to Cease and Desist to the Ambrosia Lounge who is promoting an event to be held at 143 Main Street
The letter (see attached), issued by Assistant City Solicitor Stephen M. Reilly, Jr., stated that “As you are aware I represent the City of Springfield in its capacity as the licensing authority for entertainment licenses. It has come to the City’s attention that you intend to host an event titled at 143 Main Street d/b/a Ambrosia Lounge this Friday September 12, 2014 at 9 p.m. This proposed event offers a “mixtape release show/celebration” with a cover charge despite the fact that you possess no entertainment license to conduct such an event.”
“If you want to own and operate an establishment here in Springfield and operate within the law we welcome you with open arms. However, if you continually operate with disregard for local ordinance and state law you will be held accountable.” stated Mayor Domenic J Sarno.
The letter is addressed to Mr. Timothy Babbs, d/b/a Ambrosia Lounge. The notice states Failure to comply with this notice shall result in enforcement action by the City of Springfield which may include but not be limited to criminal and civil penalties
This is the second time in three months the City of Springfield has had to serve such a notice to this unlicensed establishment.
