August 11, 2014 –Springfield, MA- Mayor Domenic J. Sarno proclaimed today “Ecuadorian Independence Day” in the City of Springfield.
Officials from the Ecuadorian Civic Club held an annual flag raising event today on the steps of Springfield City Hall to celebrate the Ecuadorian Day of Independence as well as to remember the legacies of three prominent Ecuadorian Americans; Mr. Carlos A. Vega, Mr. Carlos Hernan Ulloa and Mr. Oswaldo “Ozzie” Alban, the event was dedicated in their honor.
In addition the history of the Ecuadorian struggle for independence was aloud. After the speaking portion of the event Mayor Domenic J. Sarno along with members of the Ecuadorian Civic Club raised the flag of Ecuador over City Hall Plaza.
