SPRINGFIELD PARKING AUTHORITY ANNOUNCES FISCAL YEAR 2014
CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PLAN
September 27, 2013 –Springfield, MA- the Springfield Parking Authority (SPA) has announced their FY2014 Capital Improvement Plan. To date approximately $100,000 in capital repairs have been made with an additional $200,000 budgeted for FY 2014. Total capital improvement expenditure for FY 2014 will be approximately $300,000
Mayor Domenic J. Sarno commented on the plan’s release; “The Springfield Parking Authority has seen a significant transformation over the year. It is a forward looking agency that is significantly assisting Downtown Springfield in capitalizing on its cultural and entertainment venues by providing safe, clean and well lit parking facilities in the heart of Downtown Springfield.”
Projects that have either been completed or will soon be include:
Columbus Center Garage
Completed: Courtyard brick pavement leveled.
To be completed Slab leakage, joint sealant restoration.
Concrete/brick repairs, retail space roof.
Civic Center Garage
Completed: Removal of concrete spalls
Shoring of the beam on the lower level.
Elevator repairs, installation of energy efficient lighting.
Improved signage. Concrete floor repairs on various levels.
To be completed: Removal of concrete spalls.
I-91 South Garage
Completed: Built Handicap accessible ramp.
Springfield Parking Authority Chairwomon Mary McNally stated; “These capital projects were made possible by the annual savings resulting from the recent refinance of our long term debt. Many of these repairs had been deferred due to the lack of cash flow. The SPA Board is committed to timely facility repairs and improvements in furtherance of our effort to create a safe and welcoming environment in our downtown parking garages.”
