“WHAT VETERANS DAY MEANS TO ME”
Mayor Domenic J. Sarno and Springfield’s Veterans Services Director Thomas Belton announced today the details of a Student Art Contest and Exhibit. The contest will focus on “What Veterans Day Means to Me.”
Students will have an opportunity to create art work that demonstrates the importance and meaning of Veterans Day. Students should include some aspects and reference to Veterans Day in their submissions. All submission must be original, but can incorporate interpretation of existing Veterans Day images. All winning entries will become property of Department of Veterans Services.
Judges will select one winner from each level, (K-5, 6-8 and 9-12) and each winner will receive a $100 Savings Bond. Three honorable mentions from each level will receive a certificate. Winning entries and honorable mentions art work will be exhibited at the Artist Square Group Gallery.
Judging will be based on creativity, artistic expression, adherence to theme, and historical accuracy.
