SBA Urges Return of Applications Before Aug. 15
More Than $5 Million SBA Disaster Loans Approved in Massachusetts ATLANTA –

The U.S. Small Business Administration is urging survivors of Massachusetts affected by the recent storms and tornadoes to quickly return completed SBA low-interest disaster loan applications in order to be considered for all forms of assistance. Homeowners and renters who cannot afford a loan may be referred to FEMA for possible grant funds. The deadline for filing for physical damage is Aug. 15.

“There is a tendency for survivors to discard SBA disaster loan applications because they may not want a loan. However, they risk missing out on grants by not returning completed applications to SBA,”said Frank Skaggs, director, SBA Field Operations Center East, Atlanta.

The SBA has approved more than $5 million in Disaster Assistance Loans for residents and business owners in Massachusetts. “Currently, 106 home and business disaster loans have been approved in the amount of $5,298,700 for affected survivors,” Skaggs added. “We are pleased to be able to get these loans approved so residents and businesses in the disaster area can start to rebuild and resume their normal lives. With the August 15 deadline approaching, I encourage anyone who has not completed their disaster loan application to do so and return it as quickly as possible.”

Those affected by the disaster should register with Federal Emergency Management (FEMA) at1-800-621-FEMA (3362) or 800-462-7585 (TTY) for the hearing and speech impaired or register online at www.disasterassistance.gov.
