There are two possilbe dates to attend. The dates are Thursday, May 31, 2012 OR Tuesday, June 5, 2012. The testing will take place at Milton Bradley Elementary School on 22 Mulberry Street from 6-8pm. If you are hired, we will do hiring paperwork, the same night, in the cafeteria at 8:15pm. A State issued picture ID (drivers permit, license, Mass ID) is required and one of the following, a birth certificate or a social security card. If you have a passport then that is all you will need. Please call Stacey at 413-787-6298 to sign up for one of the test dates. May YMCA Lifeguard Training Class -There will be a May Lifeguard Training Class taught by Noel Vasquez at the Springfield YMCA starting May1s t- May31st. WATER SAFETY INSTRUCTOR COURSE -Attendance at and active participation in all sessions is required; there is also a written exam at the end of the program. Lesson plans and block plans must be completed and submitted for review by the WSIT. A class will be run when there is at least 6 people signed up. The next class runs on Saturday's - April 14th through May 12th by the Red Cross. Fee is $300. Call 413-737-4306 to sign up. New Aquatics Programs....WATER AEROBICS IS BACK! Session II starts March 27th, 2012 and ends May 17, 2012.TEEN SWIM CLINIC: Monday and Wednesday nights for 10 weeks at Commerce High School. Time is 6pm for ages 14-15 & 7:15 for ages 16-18. Starts March 19, 2012 and ends May 28, 2012. Fee is $100 per swimmer.WSI Class: Saturday's from 8am-4pm at Central High School starting April 14 - May 12, 2012. Class is $300 per person. Come Splash Around!The Springfield Department of Parks, Buildings and Recreation Management and the YMCA is proud to announce the following NEW public aquatics programs:1.) Parent/Child Classes- The YMCA Parent and Child Swim Program is a nationally recognized program which promotes water enrichment and aquatics readiness activities for children ages 6 months to 3 years of age. Parent and child participate in water adjustment activities including blowing bubbles, kicking, paddling and jumping in. Games and songs are used to create a fun atmosphere and help children feel comfortable in the pool. This class is being offered at Kiley Middle School on Monday and Wednesday nights starting April 30th, 2012. Only $40 1x per week or $65 2x per week. This is a 7 week class. Please Call Noel at 739-6951 x169 to register. 2.) Pre-School Learn To Swim Classes (Ages 3-5) - A swim class for new and beginner swimmers. Children develop safe pool behavior, adjust to the water and learn to swim individually with a bubble. Swimmers are taught pool safety, the paddle stroke, kicking, floating, blowing bubbles and jumping into the pool. This class is being offered at Kiley Middle School, starting April 30th, 2012. The classes are first come first serve. Please Call Noel at 739-6951 x169 to register. The cost for the entire 7 week class is $40 for 1 visit a week, $65 for 2 visits a week. The times are listed on the flier. 3.) Stroke n Turn Clinic (Ages 5-14) - This program will focus on the skills and technique needed for competitive swimming. Clinic will focus on the 4 competitive strokes including extensive work on turns, starts and stroke technique. Program will meet 2 times per week for 45 minutes at Kiley Middle School. (Monday and Wednesday nights) The cost for this class is $90. The time is 7:15-8pm. 4.) Competitive Swim Pre-Team (Ages 4 – 10) - This program will help develop those skills necessary for success for competitive swim team. Class will focus on the 4 competitive strokes with work on starts, turns and stroke technique. Program will meet once per week for 45 minutes. The cost for this class is $45. The times are on the flier. The class is at Kiley Middle School. 5.) Adult Swim Classes (Ages 18+) - Beginner – Basic of Swimming: Start with the basics and become more comfortable in the water. This class will introduce basic body position, breathing methods and begin to build your strength and self confidence in the water. Our instructors will work on floating and kicking drills to begin with and will assist each participant improve at their pace. Class will meet for 45 minutes. Intermediate- Stroke Development: Learn how to swim more effectively. This class will review the various strokes and improve arm, leg and head positions. Our instructors will help to identify specific areas for improvement and assist you in becoming a more confident swimmer. Class will meet for 45 minutes from 7:15-8pm. The cost for the entire 7 week class is $40 for 1 lesson per week and $65 for 2 lessons per week on Monday and Wednesday nights. 6.) Sunrise Swim- Before School Teacher Fitness Swim with the permission of your principal. There must be at lest two people to swim. Never swim alone! 7.) Family Swim Night- There is no FREE Family Swim this year. Sorry. 8.) Water Aerobics - Programs are closed on Holidays. A 16 session punch card for $55 is given for participants OR you can drop in for $5 per class. Call Stacey for more information at 413-787-6298.
