IMPORTANT AQUATICS INFORMATION


City of Springfield Lifeguards will be competing in a Lifeguard Triathlon on Monday, July 28th, 2008 at 7:00pm.  The event will take place at Compo Beach in Westport CT if anyone is interested in attending.     


Life guard Training Certification Class

The Department of Parks, Buildings & Recreation Management  willl offer the next Lifeguarding class during November, 2008.  Please call Stacey to sign up at 787-6298.


Learn to Swim Classes

The Department of Parks, Buildings and Recreation Management is offering three (3) summer learn to swim program for the Months of June, July and August.  The class is for adults and children of all ages.  The fee is $50 per participant for a 2-3 week swim session.  Please call Sandy at 787-6435 to register for one of the following classes:

Session I

DATE:  June 2-20.   Monday's, Wednesday's and Friday's                             TIMES: Adult Class -  8-9pm.    Beginner level – 5-6pm   Intermediate Level – 6-7pm   Advanced Level- 7-8pm.   Course level times may vary depending on participation sign ups.

Session 2 –

DATE:  July 14-25.    Monday-Friday

Session 3 –  

DATE:  August 4-15.    Monday-Friday

Session 2 & 3 Times:  Adult Class -  8-9am.    Beginner level – 9-10am   Intermediate Level – 10-11am   Advanced Level- 11-12am.   Course level times may vary depending on participation sign ups.

LOCATION:  Central High School, 1840 Roosevelt Ave. OR Gerena Elementary School, 200 Birnie Ave.


Water Safety Instructor Course

Attendance at and active participation in all sessions is required; there is also a written exam at the end of the program.  Lesson plans and block plans must be completed and submitted for review by the WSIT. 

We need a minimum of 6 people to sign up to run a class.  Please call Stacey to sign up if you are interested at 413-787-6298

Class Fee is $150 per participant

 

 


Lifeguard Instructor Course

April's Lifeguard Instructor Trainer Class has been CANCELLED

Current certification as a lifeguard is required for entry into this program. 

We need more applicants to be able to run this class.  A minimum of 6 people are required to run this class.  Please call to sign up if you are interested.

Fee: $150 includes course materials and certification
