School superintendent spells out uniform policy and engages department employees

August 13, 2008 – As the start of a brand new academic year draws closer, Dr. Alan Ingram would like to make available detailed information regarding school uniforms. The policy takes effect in the Springfield Public School system for the first time this fall. A copy of the uniform policy is being made available to members of the media.

Dr. Ingram has also released to the media a copy of a letter he has written to employees of the Springfield Public School system.

“The 2008 – 2009 school year represents a fresh start for the City of Springfield.  Our goals are set high and we must not lose sight of the fact that it is going to take a team effort to reach those goals,” said Ingram. “I want to make sure the lines of communication are open and there is a clear understanding among the parents, students, teachers, administrators and staff of the expectations and support systems in place.”

Dr. Ingram will meet with students and parents tomorrow, Thursday, August 14, from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Urban League of Greater Springfield, 765 State St.
